Dilworth was founded in the 1890s as Charlotte's first suburb, connected to downtown by the city's first electric streetcar, and the Olmsted Brothers were brought in during the 1910s to extend it. South End, immediately alongside it, is not designated at all, so the two sit under different rules despite sharing a street grid.

What this means for your gutters
Older housing stock tends to mean narrower eaves, smaller original gutter profiles and fascia that has already been through several cycles of repair. Dilworth is locally designated, and that has practical consequences.
