How to work out which you need. If you are not sure, the most useful thing you can do costs nothing: stand outside during steady rain and watch. Water spilling over the front edge while a downspout runs quietly points at the trough or the outlet. Overflow at the downspout itself, especially with gurgling, points underground. A run that dips visibly in the middle has lost its fall, which is a repair rather than a clean.
That single observation usually separates a cleaning job from a drainage job, and it is the difference between a visit that fixes the problem and one that tidies it.
What we will tell you. If cleaning is not going to fix your problem, we would rather say so on the first visit than book you a recurring one. That includes the cases that cost us work: a gutter that is simply too small for the roof feeding it, a buried line that needs clearing before anything above ground matters, or a lot with so little overhead that you do not need us twice a year.
